1965: Dylan or Donovan? The Beatles!

Bob Dylan a 23 year old singer-songwriter was getting much intention, released his first single, "The Times They Are A-Changin", in Britain and had his first tour to Britain, he was also accused by the folk fans by 'going electric'.
Donovan released his debut single, "Catch The Wind"
The Byrds hooked on the Dylan trend by releaseing a cover of Dylan's "Mr Tambourine Man", Dylan seems to like their version and he bounced back with the longest single release(by then), a six minutes song, "Like a Rolling Stone", it was dismissed by the Melody Makers reviewer: "...the monotonous melody line and Dylan's expressionless intoning just cannot hold the interest for what seems like the six longest minutes since the invention of time..." .
The Beatles played to the largest audience ever, 55,600 people, in New York at the Shea Stadium and a new band, playing a gritty style, had established a reputation on the club circuit: The Who.

P.J Proby is banned to play at ABC theatres after his trousers repeatdly has split on stage during a tour
April:: The Beatles, "Ticket to Ride" / "Yes It Is" UK release
The Byrds: "Mr. Tambourine Man" / "I Knew I'd Want You" released in the UK/US
May:: The Kinks release "Set Me Free" / "I Need You"
The Yardbirds release "Heart Full of Soul" / "Steeled Blues"
First Dylan tour to Britain, Royal Albert Hall(9 of May) sold out(5000 tickets). The tour was captured in the documentary "Don´t Look Back" by D.A. Pennebaker.
June:: The Kinks on tour in the USA
The Byrds - "Mr. Tambourine Man"(US Chart)
First article about The Who in Melody Maker "...leader, composer and guitarist, Pete Townshend borrowed the Kinks heavy riff style..."
July:: The Rolling Stones hits the US chart no.1 with "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

Bob Dylan plays turns electric when he performs three songs together with Paul Butterfield Blues Band at the Newport Folk Festival.
